Hello! The last week has been madness! I had a major assignment due and the weekend just depleted all my energy to do anything at all. Well anyway, on to nail polish!
China Glaze 2nite is a pretty pale 'periwinkle' blue holo.
This was 2 coats to cover up any bald spots. I had experienced some drag, unlike for China Glaze IDK but I think their formula isn't too far apart. Perhaps it was just my application.
How it looks like near the sun. The flashes of holo isn't as obvious as say, Nfu Ohs, but it is quite pronounced when the light hits it.
This is the effect when softer light hits it, there's a slight rainbow effect. Purdeeeyyy.
And with flash. I just love me a good holo. Who doesn't?
Until next time, thanks for reading! ❤

Charla
Zoya Charla is a gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous teal packed with golden flecks. It has been described to resemble a mermaid's tail and I could not agree more.
This was 2 thick coats and it was sufficient to achieve complete opacity. Not much problems with application but I did experience a slight drag, which is why I decided to use thick coats for easier application.
The golden shimmer effect is just amazing. It's more pronounced in the bottle but it's sufficiently obvious on the nails to make it absolutely breath-taking. I couldn't stop staring at my nails!
It makes me feel as if I'm at the beach looking at the sun's rays reflecting off the blue ocean. Ahhh, paradise on my nails.
Closeup of the flecks. I love how it's not mere shimmer and not as sparse as flakies. I love the effect the densely packed golden flecks give.

Blog Awards
Just before I get started, I would like to say a big THANK YOU! :) to ChaosButterfly at The Phalanges Files and to JQ at Frippery Digits for the awards.
I would also like to add that I think these awards are the sweetest way of getting the blogging community together and giving exposure to new bloggers. Cheers to whoever who came up with that!
So I won the Sunshine Award, the Happy 101 Award and the Beautiful Blogger Award.
The way I'm going to go about doing this is to state 7 things about me and 10 things I like. I'm then going to tag 12 bloggers for all three of these awards since that seems to cover it. Okay, let's start!

Nudge
Sorry for the break in posting! I was quite busy and I fell sick for the past few days. But I'm back now and that's what matters!
I'm sporting Illamasqua Nudge on my nails today. And I must say that this color confuses me. I always thought that it would be greener, but most of the time, it looks sky blue instead of green. Strange.
This was 2 coats. First coat application was terribly streaky, but the second coat evened it all out to make it perfectly nice and smooth.
And I realized that the brush is normal, it wasn't more tapered on one side like my Jo'Mina brush. Now I'm just wondering if I got a defective bottle :(. These aren't cheap!!
Even though it looks blue most of the time, under sunlight, it does look more green. And I've tried comparing it to my other colors and I must say I don't have anything like it. It's much bluer than my mint greens and much greener than my light blues.
No photo of the label because they mislabelled this bottle as Caress instead of Nudge!!
On a side note: I got myself some mood polishes and have been wearing them for the past couple of days. One of the reasons why I haven't been posting because the color changes are a hassle to photograph and they chip on me the next day!! Nevertheless, I've never had as much fun with nail polish as I did when I wore them.
That's it for today folks! Thanks for reading! ❤

My Fav Red
When I read about kittytokaren's hunt for her perfect red on polishorperish, I was suddenly struck by my own predicament of not having a single red polish (without glitter, that is). Amidst all the funky colors I have, I'm surprised that I don't have a single one! Then I realized that I needed to get myself a classic red. I, thus, began my own quest for the perfect red.
I've read alot of raving reviews about OPI Big Apple Red, so I decided to give it a try. Lo and behold - I think I might have found my favorite red already (which is funny because I don't really have any others to compare it to).
Here is OPI Big Apple Red.
This is 2 coats. I'm sure that one coat of this jelly polish is all you need, but I painted 2 just out of habit. Despite being a jelly, it is actually quite opaque.
I actually painted this on my toes first when I first noticed that it was a jelly. By then, I was dying to remove my manicure and paint this on! I finally did so yesterday. So now both my finger and toenails are adorned in this polish.
I love how this polish is not too orange or too blue. It looks brighter and more orangey in the sunlight but in the shade it actually looks more blue-toned. But I must admit that it's a little more to the orange side, but that's what makes it brighter! Which I kind of love.
Moreover, it's a jelly. Now I understand the hype about jellies. It's just so... glossy! And it has this translucent quality to it that makes me want to dive in and bounce about in it! Absolutely LOVE it!
Definitely a good buy! And I think it certainly does live up to its reviews. One classic red indeed!
I'm thinking that perhaps I should get another red for comparison sake but I'm not sure which. I want a deeper red just as a contrast, so it's between Malaga Wine or Vodka and Caviar - both OPI because I'm an OPI girl. :)
Well, we'll see how that goes. For the mean time, thanks for reading! ❤

Lemon Meringue
Here is another Models Own polish and the last of the requested ones. I wouldn't be swatching the others anytime soon and they would be at random after this.
So here is Models Own Lemon Meringue!
This was 2 coats each. First coat went on streaky so I applied a second to smoothen it out. Otherwise, no problems with application.
It's a very cool-toned pastel yellow that reminds me of a banana smoothie, not so much lemon meringue. But I guess I can see where they were going with that name.
I don't normally go for yellows because I don't think it's a very appealing color. But I guess I wanted to have an option of going for a yellow when I felt like it, that's why I got 2 yellows in the latest haul.
I think I'd be wearing these pastel colors more often when my nails grow out. But in the mean time, I want to wear bolder colors! Because they look better on short nails, in my opinion. And my nails are growing out!

Jade Stone
I'm convinced that the sun hates me! I tried taking photos yesterday but every time I whipped out my camera, the sun disappears! And when it reappears, I run out to try to take photos again but then before I know it, it's gone! So frustrating :(
But anyway, I did manage to take a few photos even though I had to color correct them.
So here is Models Own Jade Stone.
Ignore the fact that everything else is a little washed out. But this is how the color looks like.
This was 2 coats. The application, unlike Blue Gem, is disastrous! It was thick and gloopy and streaky and I was horrified. I had to re-do 2 fingers because I was unsatisfied with how it went on. But I suppose a little thinner could save this polish, if I had any... maybe I should look to finding one.
I added a little konad design over it. The design is from m71 with white konad special polish.
This color is actually a really pretty green. I've read somewhere that it's similar to Essie Turquoise & Caicos but unfortunately, I don't have it to compare. But I would think that this is more green than turquoise, although it does have a little bluer undertone.
So I decided to compare it to the Tiffany & Co box.
As you can see, the box is alot bluer than the polish - which shows up as more of a green.
Well, that's it for now. I'm very sorry for the poor quality photos! Hopefully, the weather would allow for better quality photos next time!

Jo'Mina
This is Illamasqua's Jo'Mina from the Body Electrics Collection. And I must say, I absolutely LOVE this color!
This was 2 coats. The polish is quite opaque but still needed 2 coats for even and completely coverage. The formula, however, was a little on the thick side. But manageable anyway.
The main thing I noticed about Illamasqua's polishes is their brush. It's quite unique because one side is more tapered than the other. When I first started painting with it, I wasn't sure which side to use and that kind of messed up my application... but I got the hang of it.
I didn't manage to get a picture of the brush but I will when I swatch the next Illamasqua! :)
Anyway, back to Jo'Mina. This color is really really beautiful. It doesn't look like it, but it's actually quite 'neon' because it sort of glows. Well, it doesn't exactly glow, but it's sort of bright-ish. It's no wonder it's in the Body Electrics Collection.
I think neon fits the description better. So I guess, I'd say this polish was semi-neon? =/
It's a bright purple, like in the first picture, but under certain light can look like it has a little bit of blue tinge to it, which makes it all the lovelier.
There are some specks of glitter on my fourth finger and pinkie. This was because there was some residual glitter from the brush of my top coat. I had no idea! But I've taken care of that problem.
I cannot stop raving about this polish, but I know that my pictures don't really do it justice. So maybe I'd write another post with it in the future (after I tried all my other polishes). Maybe maybe.

Royal Gem
Konadicure Time!
It's been awhile since a nail art post, so here is one! I used China Glaze 2030 from the Khrome Collection to stamp over Models Own Blue Gem. The design is Konad's m71 image plate.
The specks on my nails aren't dust this time, it's from my inadequate stamping technique. I somehow managed to get some tiny gold flecks onto my nails, I don't know how. But I suspect it's because I applied my topcoat over the stamped design too quickly and pulled some from 2030.
Hopefully these pictures also contribute to giving a clearer idea of how Blue Gem looks like.

Blue Gem
Here is my first swatch of the recent haul! As per requested, first up, Models Own Blue Gem.
This was 2 coats, even though I could have gotten away with 1. I did another because my fourth finger wasn't even. But otherwise, it would have been perfect with 1 coat.
The formula was surprisingly good! I've never used any Models Own polishes before but it glided on very smoothly, it wasn't gloopy or too watery. The application was so good that the polish just melts together when applied.
It dries fast too. While I was painting my right hand, I accidentally bumped my left fingers on my laptop and I was horrified! But when I inspected the 'damage', behold - no dents!
This polish actually dries semi-matte but you cannot tell because I applied a top coat over it (Essie's Good to Go). So now, it just looks like a creme.
So sorry for the washed out photos, I guess it's just really sunny today! And my nails were quite dusty because I pulled up the blinds and didn't realize that dust got onto my fingers until AFTER the photos were taken...
Furthermore, I really adore this color. It's a deep indigo, and when I say indigo, I mean indigo. In certain light it's a navy blue (as below) and in others it's purple (as above).
It truly is a Blue Gem since the blue transforms into a deep violet in the light. I actually applied it last night and I kept thinking "Hmm I thought this was supposed to be a little more purple." But this morning, I looked at my fingers and went "Wow, it really IS purple!"
And my boyfriend actually objected to the name because it's more purple than blue. He said this: "If this is blue then I might as well be blind." Haha, if only he knew about the wonders of this polish.
I hope you enjoyed this post and polish. Thanks for reading! ❤
